This 19th century railroad apartment features highceilings and two parlors. The front rooms wereopened up to create an entry hall, defined with movableglass panels, and one large L-shaped livingspace. The narrow hallway leads to a study, an opendining room, bath and kitchen with a master bedroomsuite at the rear.
The apartment was painstakingly restored, strippingexisting woodwork, cleaning the exposed brick wall, and recreating period detail such as the transomglass windows. However, all new insertions, such asthe cabinetwork and front room fireplace weredesigned to provide a minimalist counterpoint -theentry glass screens, the kitchen and dining roomcabinets in ash, fireplace surround in large slabs ofhoned limestone.
